Lot description:

PAMPHYLIA. Side. Orbiana, Augusta, 225-227. Diassarion (Orichalcum, 23 mm, 7.19 g, 12 h). ΓΝ ϹЄ ϹΑΛ ΒΑ ΟΡΒΙΑΝΗ ϹЄ Draped bust of Orbiana to right. Rev. CIΔHTΩN Cult statue of Nemesis, veiled and draped, standing facing, head lowered slightly to left and with rod (?) before; at her feet to left, griffin seated left, looking up; to right behind her, wheel; in upper left and right fields, crescent and star; all within distyle aedicula. RPC VI online -. Unpublished and unique, a very interesting and important issue. Some corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.

The reverse of this interesting issue shows us a female cult statue, most likely that of Nemesis, as she appears to be accompanied by a griffin and a wheel while holding a rod before her head. The addition of a crescent and star to the left and the right of the statue indicates that the die cutter was influenced by the well-known renderings of the cult statue of Artemis Pergaia within a distyle aedicula on coins from the nearby city of Perge (see Leu 3, 2018, 177 for a particularly impressive example).
